Jordan became a MOST Scholar in 2013, long before he was old enough to understand just how deeply that opportunity would shape his future. Today, he recognizes the role MOST supporters played in shaping the person he has become.
For Jordan, the scholarship was only the beginning. The mentors who encouraged him, the staff members who checked in on him, and the friendships he formed with other scholars became an important part of his life. MOST became more than a scholarship program that offered him financial assistance. It became a community that challenged him, encouraged him, and continued walking beside him long after graduation.
"MOST became like a second family to me."
It was one simple sentence, but it explained everything.
Because someone chose to invest in a child they had never met, Jordan began his educational journey at Christ the King. The MOST Scholarship opened the door to a learning environment where a bright young student with energy, determination, and endless potential could grow. That opportunity changed the direction of his life and eventually led him to Briarcrest Christian School, where he continued to flourish.
At Briarcrest, Jordan thrived in the classroom, on the field, and on the court. He received a MOST Scholarship as well as the merit-based McDonnell Scholarship. He earned Academic Honor Roll recognition all four years, helped lead his basketball team to a TSSAA State Championship, served as captain of the football team, and was selected for the TACA All Star Game and the All Region Football Team. Through every accomplishment, Jordan found opportunities to lead and encourage those around him.
Jordan's hard work earned him an athletic scholarship to Harding Academy, where he continued to excel both academically and athletically. Jordan now attends the University of Memphis, where the MOST College Scholarship is paying for his living expenses as he pursues his dream of becoming an oral surgeon.
Through MOST, Jordan gained mentors who broadened his view of what was possible and introduced him to career paths he had never considered.
He said, “My goal would be to serve the Memphis community after getting my own practice up and running.”
That statement captures the heart of MOST's mission. It’s hard not to see the ripple effect. Someone invested in Jordan. Now Jordan wants to invest in Memphis.
Every gift to MOST creates another story like Jordan's. A scholarship does more than open the door to a school. It welcomes a child into a community that believes in their potential and walks beside them for years to come
