How M.O.S.T. Lottery Application Works

Pre-Application Information

M.O.S.T. provides need-based scholarships to qualifying families who want to send their children to private schools. The scholarship maximum for the 2022-2023 school year is $3,300.00 per student.

Eligible families must meet the following requirements:

  1. Place of Residence: Families and students must be residents of Shelby County.
  2. Student Grade Level: Students must be entering PK3, PK4, kindergarten, or grades 1 through 2 in the 2022-2023 school year to receive a MOST scholarship.

Also eligible: Students in PK3 through grade 8 who have been diagnosed with special needs and will attend one of the following schools or programs: Bodine School, Bowie Center Day School, Briarcrest’s Educational Support Services program, Concord Academy, Holy Rosary ANGEL program or The Learning Center, Madonna Learning Center, Phoenix School for Creative Learning, Shady Oaks School, St. Benedict PLUS program.
  3. Family Income: Applying families must meet our income eligibility requirements. Click here to view the Income Eligibility Scale.
  4. School Financial Aid Programs: If awarded a M.O.S.T. scholarship, a family is required to apply for any financial aid the student’s school offers. Families may receive both school financial aid and a M.O.S.T. scholarship, but the family is responsible for paying a portion of the child’s tuition.

Important Notes

One key component of educational success is parental involvement. Making a financial sacrifice is a strong incentive for getting, and keeping, parents involved in their children’s schools and in the educational process. A M.O.S.T. Scholarship is a hand-up, not a handout.
