Applying for a MOST Scholarship
2012-2013 Application Process
The pre-application process for the 2012-2013 school year is now closed. MOST accepted pre-applications during the period of February 1-29, 2012. For information about other choice options, please click here.
MOST conducted a lottery-style drawing in early March from the names that were submitted during the pre-application process. All lottery winners were mailed a “New Student Application,” which must be completed and returned, along with proof of all 2011 income and birth certificates of applying students, by Friday, March 30, 2012. Scholarships are not awarded until the completed paperwork is in the MOST office.
Eligibility for Scholarships
There are three important criteria MOST uses to determine a student’s eligibility:
- Place of Residence - Applicants must be residents of Shelby County.
- Student Age - Students must be entering PreK-3, PreK-4, kindergarten or 1st grade in the 2012-2013 school year. The only exception to this rule is for students with documented learning differences (ages 3-18) who are applying to a school that is established for, or has a specific program to address, the child’s learning difference.
- Family Income - Applying families must meet our income eligibility guidelines. The family that has primary custody of the student must have total 2011 household income* equal to or less than the following:
Household Size Total Income
2 $39,717
3 $50,031
4 $60.345
5 $70,659
6 $80,973
7 $91,287
8 $101,601
For each additional family member, add $10,314
*Total 2011 Household Income
If your name is drawn in the lottery, you must provide complete documentation of your 2011 income as well as birth certificates for each child for whom you are applying. Please see our Eligibility Scale for detailed information about what documentation you will be required to submit.
